Biologic therapies: from the surgeon who pioneered them.
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP), bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMAC), and peptide therapy, used when they're the right tool, not when they're a marketing line. Dr. Lee was among the first surgeons in NYC to perform PRP, including for upper extremity injuries. He performs 250+ PRP procedures annually today.
An early adopter, not a marketer.
Dr. Lee was among the first surgeons in New York City to use platelet-rich plasma (PRP), including for upper extremity injuries, at a time when biologics were still considered experimental in the orthopedic mainstream. He performs over 250 PRP procedures annually today and has watched the field grow from a research idea into a routine clinical option.
He has also published what is believed to be the first review paper on peptide therapy in an orthopedic journal, expanding the conversation around what biologic and regenerative options can responsibly offer orthopedic patients.
Procedures & techniques.
PRP, platelet-rich plasma
Concentrated platelets and growth factors from the patient's own blood, injected under image guidance when necessary. The strongest evidence is for tendon conditions and selected joint problems.
BMAC, bone marrow aspirate concentrate
Mesenchymal-cell-rich aspirate harvested from the iliac crest. Used in selected cases of cartilage injury and tendinopathy where PRP alone may not be enough.
Peptide therapy
Dr. Lee published what is believed to be the first review paper on peptide therapy in an orthopedic journal. Use is patient-specific and conservative.
When biologics are not the answer
Dr. Lee will tell you when surgery, formal physical therapy, or simply time is the better path, and he has no financial incentive to push injections you don't need.
What patients come in for.
Internal Brace
A high-strength suture-tape augmentation that protects a ligament or tendon repair during early healing, allowing earlier motion and faster return to activity. Dr. Lee helped design the internal-brace constructs used for the upper extremity.
Orthobiologics (PRP & BMAC)
Evidence-based biologic treatments that use the patient's own blood (PRP) or bone marrow (BMAC) to support healing, with an honest account of what they can and cannot do, and how they differ from marketed stem cell injections.

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) Injections
A regenerative injection using concentrated platelets and growth factors from the patient's own blood. Dr. Lee was among the first surgeons in NYC to use PRP for the upper extremity and performs more than 250 PRP procedures per year.
